Elizabeth A. Rosenbaum, Family Law Attorney
Elizabeth A. Rosenbaum was raised in Vermillion, South Dakota, and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1979. She attended the University of South Dakota for her undergraduate degrees. In 1981, she graduated with an A.D.N. and worked as a registered nurse (labor and delivery) in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1985, she graduated with a B.S. in Health Services Administration. While working as a nurse, Elizabeth continued with her education and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1988.
Elizabeth’s legal career is based out of Sioux City, Iowa. She has had her own law firm since 1993 and specializes in the areas of divorce/dissolution of marriage, custody, adoption, and the Indian Child Welfare Act. Elizabeth’s primary geographical practice area is located between Sioux Falls, the Iowa Great Lakes, and Des Moines. Elizabeth is recognized as one of the leading domestic relations attorneys in this region. She was named The University of South Dakota School of Law, Women in Law, 2015 Attorney of the Year. She also takes great pride in the fact that she completed her 580th adoption in 2021.
Elizabeth has been designated a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (“AAML”), a prestigious national organization dedicated to the advancement of the highest degree of professionalism and competence within the field of family law. To qualify to become a Fellow of the AAML, the attorney must demonstrate an active interest and competency in matrimonial law as evidenced by the fulfillment of criteria and standards as established by the AAML™ Board of Examiners and Board of Governors. Fellows of the AAML must have substantial experience and ability to handle complex matters relating to custody and support of children, property division, and alimony. Applicants to become a Fellow must also pass a rigorous written examination covering a wide range of topics and must be recognized by area judges and attorneys as a leading practitioner in the area of matrimonial law. She is currently serving as the President of the Central States Chapter of the AAML.
Elizabeth is married, has two adult children, and two grandchildren. Her free time is spent gardening, reading, kayaking, and enjoying her home on the banks of the Missouri River. She is a Daughter of the American Revolution and serves as an Officer of the Martha Washington Chapter, ISDAR. Her most interesting hobby is her love of pyrotechnics and she puts on quite a show every Fourth of July!
